Exploring Chinese Culture Part 2: The Silk Road presented by Kit Lau

The caravan routes of ancient times not only enabled the trading of silk as a commodity, but also helped spread world culture between the East and the West as merchants, travelers and diplomats traversed the route. Through tales and photos of the presenter’s Silk Road journey, you’ll venture across the Gobi Desert and view glacial formations, villages and towns to experience the life of a Silk Road traveler.

Kit Lau is a Howell resident. Her passion for teaching Chinese culture began by teaching children and teenagers in her daughter’s Chinese school. Now conducting programs for adults, Kit strongly believes that by understanding the beauty and uniqueness of different cultures, people can live a more interesting and fulfilling life.

Kit was an instructor at the McAuley Institute for Lifelong Learning at Georgian Court University. Her courses focused on various aspects of Chinese culture. She is also the recipient of the Association of Chinese Schools (ACS) Outstanding Teacher Award.

These programs are made possible by the generous support of the Friends of Howell Library.
